What creators lose when they lose an account

Account security is a commercial issue, not an IT one.

Concentrating on a phone screen

We started on the platform-support side of this industry, which means we have watched a lot of people lose a lot of work.

The asset nobody insures

A creator account is a distribution channel, a customer list and a portfolio at the same time. It is also, in most cases, secured by a single password and an email address that has been reused elsewhere.

What we do on day one

  1. Two-factor authentication on every platform, with recovery codes stored somewhere that is not the same phone.
  2. A dedicated business email that is not the personal one from secondary school.
  3. A documented list of every account, who has access, and how access is revoked.
  4. Backups of the work itself, off-platform.

None of this is interesting. All of it is the difference between an inconvenience and a lost year.

When it has already gone wrong

Recovery is possible more often than people assume, but it depends almost entirely on the quality of the documentation you can produce and the route you escalate through. That is the part we handle.

The brief is the campaign

A vague brief does not give creators freedom. It gives them no way to be right, and no way for anyone to say whether the work succeeded.

African creators are not a single market

A creator in Lagos and a creator in Nairobi are not interchangeable line items, and the campaigns that treat them as such tend to show it.
